Homemade ginger-turmeric-lemon-shot

A few years ago, I made this shot the first time, and I didn’t get sick nor caught a cold the whole autumn and winter. I don’t know if it was the effect of the shot or a placebo-effect, but I like to believe it is working wonders.

As I don’t have a juicer (yet), I make the shot the old-fashion way in a pot.

Ingredients
Juice of 4 freshly squeezed lemons
250 g of ginger
100 g of turmeric root
3 tbsp. of honey
1 litre of water

I sometimes add some juice from oranges or apples as well.

Peel the ginger and turmeric root and cut it into small pieces (be careful with the turmeric – it makes everything go yellow!). Hint: Peel the ginger and turmeric with the tip of a spoon, it is so much easier than using a knife or potato peeler.

Put the ginger, turmeric and water into a pot and bring it to boil. Turn down the heat and let it simmer for 45 minutes.

Turn off the heat and pour in the lemon juice and honey. Leave to rest for app. half an hour before removing the ginger and turmeric.

I usually keep this for around a week in the fridge.

Enjoy.
